Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of updates on September 19, 2025, regarding recent legislative efforts and political developments.
In a post made at 19:16 UTC, Buchanan stated, “Honored to be recognized by @NAACOSnews as a Champion of Value in Health Care for introducing the Healthcare Efficiency Through Flexibility Act. This week, @WaysandMeansGOP unanimously advanced my bill to expand access to care and improve outcomes for patients and families.”
Later that day at 20:20 UTC, he commented on congressional action related to government funding: ” @HouseGOP voted to keep the government open, protect American taxpayers’ dollars and ensure our servicemembers are paid. Democrats voted for a shutdown that would harm seniors, veterans and working families.”
At 20:56 UTC, Buchanan addressed concerns about law enforcement safety in Illinois: ” Attacks on ICE officers in Illinois are unacceptable. That’s why I proudly cosponsored @RepDanCrenshaw’s RIOT Act to ensure violent illegal aliens who assault law enforcement are deported and permanently barred from the U.S. “
Buchanan has served as the representative for Florida’s 16th District since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris. He previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan is an alumnus of Cleary University (BA) and the University of Detroit Mercy.
