Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to share information about upcoming events and opportunities in Florida.
On August 23, 2025, Buchanan posted about the international sporting event coming to the United States: “The FIFA World Cup is coming to America next year, with matches right here in Florida. Sign up to volunteer and support the tournament if you want to show the best of what of America has to offer.”
The following day, on August 24, he highlighted a local athletic event for older adults: “The 44th Annual Active Life Games begin September 29th in Hillsborough County! Athletes ages 50 and older can compete in track, pickleball, golf and more. Registration closes September 12th. Sign up here: https://t.co/cBppDAJ8RZ”
On August 25, Buchanan reminded constituents about an important educational deadline: “Applications for U.S. Service Academy nominations are due October 10, 2025. Vern Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th district since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and now residing in Sarasota, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
