Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on social media highlighting his commitment to small businesses, tax reform, and digital asset regulation.
On July 16, 2025, Buchanan emphasized his background as an entrepreneur in a post stating, “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. Before Congress, I built two companies from the ground up. Those experiences drive everything I do in Congress. I will always support small businesses and work to create the same opportunities I once had as an entrepreneur.”
The following day, he discussed bipartisan efforts on tax reform at a public event: “It was a pleasure to join @KellieMeyerNews at the #HillNationSummit to discuss tax reform in the ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill,’ trade and the importance of bipartisanship. Grateful to share my perspective on how @HouseGOP is fighting for all Americans.” This statement was posted on July 17, 2025.
Later that same day, Buchanan addressed digital asset innovation and regulatory clarity: “A clear, commonsense framework is essential to drive digital asset innovation. That’s why I supported the GENIUS Act, which stabilizes regulations for dollar-backed stablecoins—promoting transparency, protecting consumers and strengthening the U.S. dollar globally.”
Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th district since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. He was born in Detroit in 1951 and currently resides in Sarasota. Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University (1975) and University of Detroit Mercy (1986).
