U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan, who serves Florida’s 16th district, recently shared updates on his official X account about his participation in the White House Easter Egg Roll, meetings with rare disease advocates, and legislative efforts to provide tax relief for service workers.
On April 7, Buchanan posted about a family visit to the White House for a longstanding seasonal event: “Great to visit the White House with my family for the Easter Egg Roll yesterday—always a special tradition celebrating faith, family and the joy of the Easter season.”
The following day, he highlighted engagement with health advocacy groups: “Grateful to have recently met with constituents from @tscalliance to discuss advancing research, improving care and supporting families impacted by rare diseases. As Chair of the @WaysandMeansGOP Health Subcommittee, I’m committed to strengthening medical research and patient” (April 8).
Later on April 8, Buchanan addressed economic policy: “Millions of service workers are seeing real relief thanks to my No Tax on Tips provision in @HouseGOP’s Working Families Tax Cuts. I was proud to lead this initiative so hardworking Americans can keep more of what they earn.”
Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th congressional district since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and is currently Chair of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee. Born in Detroit in 1951 and now residing in Sarasota, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
