U.S. Congressman Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district, posted a series of statements on social media between September 22 and September 23, 2025, addressing international relations with Argentina and expressing support for the Jewish community during Rosh Hashanah.
On September 22, Buchanan wrote in support of Argentina’s current administration: “It’s clear that Argentina will benefit from American support behind President @JMilei’s mission to make long-term, sustainable reforms. I fully support efforts to strengthen Argentina’s stability, growth and partnership with the United States.”
The following day, he marked the Jewish New Year by stating: “As the Jewish community welcomes the New Year, we stand in solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters. Even in the face of rising antisemitism, Rosh Hashanah is a time of renewal and hope.” This message was posted on September 23.
Later that same day, Buchanan commented on his recent diplomatic meetings in Buenos Aires: “Great to sit down with @GAFrancosOk and fellow leaders in Buenos Aires. Strengthening the U.S.–Argentina partnership is vital to advancing reforms, ensuring stability and building lasting prosperity.”
Vern Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th District in Congress since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
